A Season of Sharing: Cookies, Community, and Care

As the year draws to a close and December wraps us in its cozy embrace, we’re reminded of the power of gathering, whether around a table, a tree, or a shared cause. This season is about more than twinkling lights and festive songs; it’s about the comfort of community, the joy of traditions, and the strength we find in one another.

One tradition that never fails to bring people together is baking. The smell of cookies fresh from the oven has a way of softening hearts and sparking memories. It’s a simple act of love, mixing, baking, and sharing, that reminds us of the sweetness of connection.

This month, we invite you to join us in a special community project: sharing your favorite cookie recipes. Whether it’s Grandma’s secret ginger snaps, a batch of chocolate crinkles perfected over the years, or a new recipe you’ve just discovered, we’d love to see what warms your kitchen and your spirit.

By contributing, you’re not just passing along a recipe, you’re offering a piece of your story, a tradition that can inspire and comfort others. Together, we’ll create a collection of cookies that represents the diverse, resilient, and generous community that supports survivors of domestic violence.

How to participate:

  • Send us your recipe (and a short note about why it’s special to you).
  • Include a photo if you’d like. We’d love to see your creations!
  • We’ll share your post on our social media pages throughout the month of December.

In a season that can feel both joyful and tender, let’s remind one another that healing and hope are nurtured in the small, shared moments. Thank you for being part of this community, for standing with survivors, and for bringing your warmth to our table.

So, preheat your ovens, dust off your mixing bowls, and let’s bake up a little extra love this December.

Tossing Trees, Raising Hope: Bethlehem’s Holiday Tradition Returns

Woman Article Portrait

The cheerful and spirited Bethlehem Christmas Tree Toss, officially named the Peter Kearns Memorial Christmas Tree Toss, returns on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at More Miles Automotive (1458 Stefko Blvd., Bethlehem). This fun, family-friendly tradition invites participants to toss retired Christmas trees in a friendly competition filled with laughter, community spirit, and a bit of healthy rivalry. There is even a children’s tree toss, with much smaller trees of course.  What started as a backyard challenge between friends has grown into one of the Lehigh Valley’s beloved holiday happenings and truly a sight to see.

We are so thankful to the organizers Lehigh Valley with Love Media, More Miles Automotive, and everyone who volunteers and contributes year after year. Their creativity, dedication, and willingness to bring the community together for joy and purpose makes this event possible. Because of their ongoing commitment, this event has grown in reach and in impact, bringing more people out, spreading more cheer, and generating more meaningful support.

All proceeds from the event benefit our agency, Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, helping us to continue our mission of providing safety, support, and hope to survivors of domestic and intimate partner abuse. Every donation, toss and smile becomes part of a larger story of healing, connection and community. We are honored to be this year’s partner and grateful to everyone who shows up, participates, and throws for a cause that matters.

Give a Room. Give Safety.

When safety can’t wait, choice shouldn’t have to. Many survivors arrive with nothing. Your gift provides Safe Hoteling — a private room where they can rest and begin their next steps.

Spirit of Empowerment Gift Card Drive

Our annual Spirit of Empowerment Gift Card Drive replaces traditional in-kind collections by giving survivors something more meaningful, the gift of choice. Gift cards allow individuals and families to decide what they need most, from food and clothing to household items or small comforts that make the season brighter. Whether it’s $25 for a holiday meal or $800 to sponsor a family, your gift helps survivors move forward with flexibility and independence.

December Questions: Ask Ms. G

This month in Ask Ms. G, we're talking about boundaries and healthy pacing in relationships. Students asked:

Q1: “How do I say no to someone who guilt-trips me, especially when it’s sexual or physical? I feel bad when I say no.”

Q2: “What’s the three-month rule?”

Q3: "Age gap opinion?"

Thank you for asking these questions, keep them coming! Your voice shapes this space, and if you’re wondering about something, chances are someone else is too. Send in your questions for next month’s Ask Ms. G

Warmest Wishes this Holiday Season.

The holiday lights remind us of the brightness you've helped create in so many lives!

Thanks to friends like you, 3,772 survivors found new paths forward in 2025 through our client services, from our 24/7 helpline and legal advocacy to counseling and safe housing.

One survivor shared, "I never could have expected the kind of understanding and care I have received from you guys.  I was so scared to call the first time, afraid of what judgement I might receive form the other end of the phone, but calling was one of my best decisions.  Everyone at the company has been like my guardian angels throughout this."

Your choice to give makes these moments of hope possible.

As holiday cheer fills the air, we're thinking of you with gratitude.  May your holidays sparkle with joy.
