Expanding Our Reach, Strengthening Our Impact in Carbon County

Starting this year, Turning Point of Lehigh Valley is excited to announce that we now serve the Greater Lehigh Valley, which includes Carbon County.  We are growing our team of advocates and educators and will soon be opening a satellite office in Carbon.

As we expand, we are happy to announce two staffing updates that support the continued growth of our services in Carbon County.
After five years of dedicated service in our Lehigh Valley offices, Jessica (Murphy) Timmons has accepted a new role as Client Advocate serving Carbon County. Throughout her time with Turning Point, Jessica has built strong relationships with survivors and community partners while providing compassionate, client-centered advocacy.
We are also pleased to welcome Samantha Walsh to Turning Point as our new Outreach Advocate for Carbon County. Samantha brings enthusiasm, community connections, and a passion for supporting survivors and increasing awareness of available services throughout the county.
As Carbon County residents themselves, both Jessica and Samantha are uniquely positioned to.........

Creating More Safe Places for Survivors Across the Lehigh Valley

When someone is experiencing domestic or intimate partner abuse, knowing where to turn and who they can trust can make an important difference. Survivors may not be ready to contact a domestic violence organization directly, but they may feel comfortable sharing their experiences with someone they already know or interact with regularly.
That is why Turning Point of Lehigh Valley is working throughout our community to create more safe places for survivors to go, ask questions, access resources, or disclose abuse.

Turning Support into Safety, Healing, and Hope

Nearly 50 years ago, Turning Point of Lehigh Valley began providing services to people experiencing domestic violence. In those early days, there were no sophisticated systems, few legal protections for survivors, and limited public funding available to support this life-saving work. What existed instead was a remarkable group of volunteers determined to help. They took turns answering crisis calls and opened their own homes to individuals and families seeking safety. Survivors fleeing abuse were offered meals, shelter, and compassionate support from neighbors who believed everyone deserved to live free from violence.

While much has changed since the 1970s, our mission remains the same.

Today, Turning Point serves more than 3,000 survivors each year throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley. The volunteer-driven approach that pioneered what we now call mobile advocacy has evolved to meet the realities of a modern world. Our advocates connect with......

Investing in Hope: Trexler Trust Supports Survivors Across the Lehigh Valley

Turning Point of Lehigh Valley is grateful to the Harry C. Trexler Trust for its continued commitment to survivors of domestic and intimate partner abuse. This year, the Trust awarded Turning Point $30,000 toward our request for general operating support and safe hoteling, helping sustain critical services throughout Lehigh County, particularly in Allentown. In 2025, Turning Point served approximately 3,772 survivors across the Lehigh Valley, providing more than 7,699 hours of services to Lehigh County residents, including counseling, legal advocacy, emergency housing, and transitional housing. Allentown residents received 5,208 hours of direct services. The need for these programs remains significant, and behind every statistic is a survivor seeking safety and hope. As one survivor shared, “Your one message gives me hope... I feel that I am not alone here.”

Trexler Trust’s support helps Turning Point continue evolving its services to meet survivors where they are. Our Survivor-Centered Safe Housing model provides emergency hotel accommodations that offer greater privacy, flexibility, and autonomy while allowing survivors to maintain work, school, and childcare routines. Our integrated service model also allows advocates to support survivors throughout their entire journey, reducing the need to repeatedly share traumatic experiences. Beyond crisis response, Turning Point is expanding prevention efforts through programs such as the Healthy Love Club, which teaches youth about healthy relationships and warning signs of abuse, while partnerships with community organizations broaden our reach.  Turning Point remains committed to providing safety, healing, and pathways to independence. The Trust’s $30,000 investment is more than financial support. It is an investment in a community where survivors can find hope, stability, and the opportunity to build lives free from abuse.

Urgent Need: Personal Hygiene Items

FUNDRAISER IMAGE 2

At Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, we are facing an urgent need for personal hygiene items, and your kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families in our community.

When someone is going through a difficult or uncertain time, having access to basic personal care items can provide more than just practical support. Simple essentials like soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, face wash, body wash, body lotion, and feminine hygiene products can help someone feel clean, comfortable, cared for, and treated with dignity.

These everyday items are easy to take for granted, but for someone experiencing hardship, they can be an important reminder that their community cares about them and wants to help. A small donation can provide comfort, restore a sense of normalcy, and help someone face the day with greater confidence.

If you’re able, please consider donating personal hygiene products today. Every item, no matter how small, can make a difference. Whether you donate one essential item or a collection of products, your generosity can help us provide much-needed support to someone in need.

Together, we can make sure that people in our community have access to the basic necessities they deserve. Thank you for helping us bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.
