4 Ways Teens Can Get Involved in Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is a chance to talk about respect, safety, and support in relationships. Teens can be part of that conversation, too. Here are four ways to get involved this October.

1. Start a conversation

Ask your friends, club, or classmates: What does a healthy relationship look like to you? You might hear answers like trust, honesty, privacy, and respecting boundaries. A simple question can lead to a conversation that matters.

2. Know your resources

If you or a friend has questions about a relationship, find out where you can go for support. That might be a trusted adult, a school counselor, or a local organization (Turning Point might be in your school, ask your counselor for info!).

3. Get creative

Make a poster, write a poem, record a short video, or create art about healthy relationships. What would you want another teen to know about respect or boundaries? Your answer could help someone feel less alone.

4. Join the Healthy Love Club

A youth alliance is a group of teens who come together to share ideas and take action on an issue they care about. Turning Points youth alliance, the Healthy Love Club, gives teens a space to help educate other teens about healthy relationships and teen dating abuse.

Club members can turn their ideas into social media posts, podcasts, art, and other projects. Its a chance to be creative, work with other teens, and make your voice heard.

You dont need to have all the answers to make a difference. Start with a conversation, learn where to find support, and bring your ideas. 💜
